Today’s black and white photo tour of Paris

I ran around with my friend Rod, who was visiting today, and got a few more of the black and white shots I’ve been testing this trip. They’re not bad.  I’m still testing…

In order they are…

The Hotel de Ville (city hall), which is decked out for tomorrow’s celebration of the anniversary of the liberation of Paris in WWII (I actually got thanked by a Frenchman on Twitter today for the liberation, which I found rather sweet)…

A small plaza just next to the Pompidou Center (aka Beaubourg)….

The Pompidou Center…

And our neighborhood of Montparnasse, where I lived and studied when I was 19, and where Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald and others used to hang out in the cafes in the photo.

St. Louis’s City Hall is modeled after the Hotel de Ville. Unfortunately, and unlike Paris, our City Hall is a little worse for wear due to the effects of coal dust, a poorly researched attempt to clean it with acid, and time, having lost its central clock tower to corrosion.

*sigh* One day, my wife and I will make it to Paris…

C’mon, John, you’re just strolling around Paris hoping that a flash mob of shirtless Hommen shows up to do their famous pole climbing event. :^)

Not sure where to put this, but I’m sure a post about romantic gay Paris is a little apropos?
