Best local news intro ever (video)

Simply the best intro for the local nightly news, ever. Appears to be the 1980s. I love the hair, and the music!

Reportedly this is from WITI in Milwaukee. (H/t Uproxx)

It’s been a while, I can’t remember – which one of them loves lamp again?

    You mean FOX News?

    I miss those mustaches

I miss the days of TV on the floor.

I think it was more of the mid to late 70’s. I had a sport coat like that In ’76

  6. Kenster999 says:

    They’re doing news!

  7. Kenster999 says:

Yeah, one minute seems like a long time for an intro to a news “update.” It would maybe be appropriate for a full news program!

  8. citizen_spot says:

Oh geez-oPete! Don’t give hollywood tv execs any ideas! They are so devoid of original ideas that there is now a scripted show about a reality show in Siberia. Blar!

All this video needs is a sports guy in a cowboy hat, a mentally-disabled weatherman and some Sex Panther. Remember, 60% of the time, it works EVERY time!

    Rats! The Uproxx update showed
up when I was typing my reply. But to add to my original post, I saw
Green Bay (Brown county) and Door County and said “Hmmmm, I’ve been
there…”. The rest was just basic geography.

Most shows used to have long intros/title-sequences back then.

At some point, they started making them 30 seconds, then sticking additional credits into the show itself. For the last ten years or so, many intros have been cut to 10 seconds or less.

  12. Mark_in_MN says:

Almost seems more like the opening intro to a sitcom or drama set in a newsroom than an intro to a news broadcast.

  13. Mike_in_the_Tundra says:

    Distracting, wasn’t it?

    I always preferred Pepsi.

  15. Richard_thunderbay says:

All that was missing was a Shatner appearance as TJ Hooker.

The coke was excellent in the 80’s.

  17. Phil says:

My thought was that it seemed awfully long too. Maybe there wasn’t as much news in the 1980’s. I don’t remember, I was in my 20’s and busy with a lot of other stuff.

  18. BeccaM says:

What’s funny is how they take a full minute to run that intro.

Nowadays? They’d trim that back to about 10 seconds and turn the other 50 into commercial time.

You’ve got to love the guy on the typewriter.

Obviously Channel 6, Milwaukee (now FOX, WITI). Look at the county lines during the weatherman’s few seconds. Clearly you can see Kenosha, Racine, Milwaukee, Walworth, etc.
