Stephen Colbert’s final broadcast (video)

Last night was Stephen Colbert’s final broadcast on the Colbert Report.

As you know, Colbert is moving over to take David Letterman’s spot on The Late Show.

Here are the various segments, including a rather interesting one in which seemingly every guest (or practically every guest) that Colbert has had on over the years came back for a final group song. There’s everyone. And I mean everyone.

This is totally OT, but if I’m going to go to hell, it will be for laughing at this video of a Russian airliner having to make an emergency landing.

Perfect. That rivaled the last episode of ‘Mash.’

Colbert’s departure marks IMHO the single greatest loss to the progressive cause. Most of my European friends (and many of my American friends) get their news from Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert, and they know how to parse the satire. Colbert was a scathing indictment of the right wing, in a way that even the likes of Bill O’Reilly could appreciate. Silencing his famous call-out of the right’s insanity will be a boon for them. He will be sorely missed.. and I dare say our republic will suffer.
